Terence Crofts

Terence is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Crofts Microbiology Lab at Florida St. University. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of California-Berkeley and his post-doctoral training at Washington University in St. Louis as well as spending a few years at Northwestern University as a Research Assistant Professor.

Lab Manager

Ezabelle Franck

Ezabelle is a laboratory manager in the Crofts Microbiology Lab. She completed her Bachelors in Neuroscience at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and is currently studying chloramphenicol nitroreductases as well as streptothricin and chlorhexidine resistance genes. She likes to spend her free time reading, watching anime, and doing pottery. She aspires to go to medical school and become a physician.

Hayden Allman

Hayden is a laboratory manager in the Crofts Microbiology Lab. He recently completed his B.S. in Biochemistry at Florida State University, and is currently studying resistance of chemotherapeutics. In his free time, he likes playing pickleball, watching movies, and playing video games. He aspires to become a forensic scientist.

Elizabeth Bernate

Elizabeth is a laboratory manager in the Crofts lab. She recently completed her B.S. in Biochemistry at Florida State University. Elizabeth's focus in the lab is on discovering and characterizing new resistance genes to the antibiotic colistin, particularly genes arising from the goose gut microbiome. She'll be attending vet school this upcoming fall.

Sophia Vizoso

Sophia is a Biochemistry major undergraduate researcher in the Crofts lab. She is searching for new antibiotic resistance genes in the soil microbiome, specifically against pleuromutilin antibiotics. Sophia is pre-Med and hopes to one day become a doctor.

Maryanne Armstrong

Maryanne is an undergraduate researcher in the Crofts lab majoring in Biomathematics. She also enjoys baking, playing board games, and watching Florida State football. After getting her undergraduate degree, she hopes to attend medical school to later become a doctor.

Celine is an undergraduate student in the Crofts Lab majoring in Cell/Molecular Neuroscience. In her free time, she likes sewing, singing opera, and running. She is on a pre-medical track and aspires to one day become a doctor.
